2023 consisted of concerts, contests, and performances, and his second participation in a Musical Theater Production

2022 was a year full of Piano Contests and concerts, continuing to Play the Bass in an Orchestra, and participating in his first Musical Theater Production

John Beggs, 1st place 2024 Junior Champion at the World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest and Festival!
John performed "Alabamy Bound" by Ray Henderson, and "Viper's Drag" by Fats Waller
John also performed in two piano concerts in the spring of 2024

2024 high school ceremony
John played the piano for the Tallahassee Homeschool High School graduation with over 500 attendees.
Belmont Summer Piano Invitational

All District
John again participated in the Tallahassee Homeschool Orchestra playing the Bass for several different ages of orchestra groups. They auditioned and were selected to play in High School All-District Orchestra.

I am John Beggs from Madison Florida, I am homeschooled and attend a group (Classical Conversations) in Tallahassee. I play piano and bass, and I also sing. Here are some of the things I have done concerning music:
Piano related achievements

I have taken private lessons off and on for many years and with many different teachers, this includes recitals. Currently I am taking from Beibei Lin who works at VSU.

I have participated in the World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest three times in 2018, 2022, and 2023 winning 5th, 1st, and 2nd place respectively.

I have attended Bob Milne’s Ragtime Retreat in Michigan in the years 2017, 2028, 2019, and 2023.

I have played in three concerts. In the fall of 2022, I shared a concert with trombonist Riley Carr at Advent Christian Village. In the spring of 2023 I played a solo concert in Madison featuring Rhapsody in Blue. Then, this spring I participated in a small concert in Madison with one of my Piano tutors and his friend.

Over the years, I have been fairly in touch with Community Christian School in Tallahassee. I have attended many of their plays and contributed to three. Last fall, I played the role of Toots Navarre in the show A 1940s Radio Christmas Carol. With this role, I played the accompaniment for the singers and back ground music for the dialogue.

I have attended Piano and Strings Day at VSU two years playing Rhapsody in Blue and the first movement of the Pathetique Sonata by Beethoven.

At church, I have played various piano pieces from time to time.

I have done a handful of gigs at nursing homes, restaurants, retirement communities, parties, and festivals.

I am a member of a band called The Walk including myself, and two other guys. I often play piano or keyboard in this group. The band has done four gigs so far, and I have played for three of those.

I have in the past played piano for the Tallahassee Homeschool String Orchestra.

I attended Interlochen Arts Camp in the summer of 2022, I was in the jazz piano intensive program.
